Tour Overview
The 5 Days safari in Rwanda will give you one of the lifetime memories by taking game drive in Akagera National Park that is situated in the Northeastern part of Rwanda, gorilla trekking exercise and visiting of golden monkeys in Volcano National Park. The safari includes guided nature walks, game drive and cultural tours and many more.
Day 1. Pickup and transfer to Akagera National Park
Our guide driver will pick you either from the hotel if you are already staying in Kigali or pick you direct from the Airport, he will greet you with a big smile, give you a briefing about your stay in Kigali for your safari and later embark on the journey that will take you about 2 hours and 50 minutes. Along the way, you will have a stopover at a restaurant for lunch which is an Al-carte menu and then embark on your journey to Akagera. You will reach in the evening hours, check-into the hotel, relax as you are enjoying the aura of the hotel. Dinner and overnight will be done at the hotel.
Day 2. Game drive and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
In the morning greet your intestines with a cup of coffee accompanied by full breakfast and then later, go for a game drive where you will be able to spot the big 5 of the jungle. Akagera national park is always not congested with tourists therefore, you will feel as if you are owning the park, you will be requested to take a careful look so that you can see lions, hyenas, bird species that are endemic to the area, rhinos, giraffes to mention but a few. You will later go for lunch and then transfer to Volcanoes National Park where you check into your hotel and embark on the guided village walk. After you have checked into the hotel, you will be accompanied by the driver guide and the local guide to the villages, where you will find warmly welcoming people, listen to their stories and then go back at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3. Gorilla trekking and Ibyiwacu cultural tour
You will have your early morning breakfast and then go to the briefing center, you will be entertained by the local dancers, briefing from the guide ranger and set off for trekking. You are always assigned to one family of the ten gorilla families. You will be driven by your driver guide together with the ranger guide to the starting point of tracking. Tracking always takes between 1 hour to 8 hours because the mountain gorillas are always on a move, the park rangers are always in touch with guide rangers following the gorillas for easy directing. You will have your packed lunch which you will enjoy when you are not in the presence of the gorillas. After that you will go back at the hotel for relaxation and then later embark on the Ibyiwacu cultural tour, where you will be entertained through dancers, drummers, voices and traditional wedding ceremonies, later after you will be driven back at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4. Golden monkey tracking and Musanze caves
You will wake up early in the morning, grab your breakfast, and head to the park headquarters where you will be given briefing about park and tracking etiquettes, you will be driven to the tracking starting point. The golden monkeys are always in the bamboos and are easily seen not like the mountain gorillas, you will be tracking monkeys as you also see different birds making your safari a two-in one trip. Tracking golden monkeys takes one hour like the gorilla trekking exercise. After that, you will be driven back at the hotel for lunch and relaxation.
In the afternoon hours at around 3 pm, you will visit the longest cave in Rwanda to make your package a complete one. You will go through the cave that extends to 2 kilometers and you will be able to see the ancient homes of the natives, it is breathtaking and the experience is a rewarding one. You later be driven back to your hotel, have dinner and night stay.
Day 5. Return to Kigali and departure
In the morning, you will wake up early, have your mouthwatering breakfast pack your luggage and depart the hotel. You will be grateful to be driven through the jungle with best scenic view of the rolling hills, you will be able to see some of the animals and if lucky you will see some animal or bird species that you might have missed to see. Depending on your time of flight, if you still have time, the driver guide will take you for the city tour, show you how beautiful Kigali is, take you to craft shops where you can buy some of the souvenirs, then take you to Kigali coffee shops where you can grab Rwanda’s brewed coffee which is most liked by the travelers. After that, the driver guide will take you either at the Airport or at the hotel near the Airport where you will be relaxing from as you wait for your time of flight.
