Tour Overview

This is a refreshing, flexible, and fun-packed 12-day experience in the pearl of Africa, a visit to the top savanna parks and other breathtaking attractions in Uganda. Uganda is situated in the East of the Continent of Africa with welcoming people, a profusion of flora and Fauna and delicious cuisines.

You will visit Murchison falls national park, home to the world’s most powerful waterfalls, Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino Tracking, Kibale forest National park for Chimpanzee tracking, Semuliki national park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, a home to the tree-climbing lions, Lake Bunyonyi and Bwindi impenetrable national parks for the Gorillas.

Activities run each day and they include; Boat cruise, canoeing, city tour, Gorilla trekking, cultural encounter, bird watching and guided nature walks. This safari starts and ends at Entebbe international airport.

Detailed tour

Day 1. Arrival and Kampala city tour

You will arrive at the airport for your 12-day Pearl of Africa tour, starting the experience with a great welcome by our expert driver-guide, who will usher you into Uganda, respond to your questions and explain any other necessary information.

Thereafter you will visit some attractions around Kampala city; notably the Uganda Museum to see the country’s historical and cultural treasures and the Kasubi tombs where the ancient kings of Buganda were buried before heading for lunch and a rest. Dinner and overnight at sunset.

Day 2. Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park and Rhino Trekking

After breakfast, check out of the lodge for a 5-6 hours drive to Murchison Falls National Park, while traversing hills, plantations and bustling towns. You will have an en-route stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary to track the endangered rhinos for about one hour.

Thereafter lunch will follow, before proceeding to your lodge in or around the park, arriving in the evening for refreshments, dinner and overnight.

Day 3. Game Drive and Boat cruise

Start this day with a lip-smacking breakfast at the lodge and then head to the northern region of Murchison falls national park, a region that boasts a profusion of mammals; lions, elephants, buffalos, Uganda kobs, and giraffes among others; Birds such as the crested cranes, lovebirds, Turacos and guinea fowls, etc. and flora such as the whistling acacia.

This game drive will last for about 3-4 hours, before having a lunch break, and then an evening bottom of the falls launch cruise where you will draw nearer to the most powerful waterfalls on earth, listening to its deafening thunders and taking photos as waters squeeze through a 7-meter gauge.

Watch the hippos, and crocodiles, and hike to the top of the fall where you will watch the magnificent waterfall and the Uhuru falls. Afterwards, retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

After having a tasty breakfast at the lodge, you will check out for a transfer to Africa’s primate capital; Kibale Forest National park. It is a full-day drive; through an amazing route revealing the beauty of the countryside; making a mention of the plantations, homesteads, happy natives, and rolling hills.
You will have a lunch break en route, while arriving in the park late in the evening for refreshments, dinner, and overnight.

Day 5. Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

Kick-start this day with an energizing cup of coffee at the Lodge, and then off to the park headquarters for registration, document verification, and pre-trekking briefing- a session that runs for about thirty minutes, with the ranger guides explaining the trekking rules, and more about primates. Kibale forest is a habitat to over 13 unique primate species co-existing together, notably chimps, Columbus monkeys, the grey-cheeked monkeys, and so much more.

With the guidance of a ranger guide, the search starts; lasting for about 1-5 hours, will watching the nests, plants, birds, and other park residents. Chimpanzees are man’s closest relatives; sharing over 98% of Human genes. An additional hour is all yours to watch them feed, play, and relax, before having a lunch break.

After Lunch, visit Bigodi swamp; one of the Ramsar sites in Uganda, with a significant number of Monkeys, baboons, and birds. The residents also carry on with the daily chores as you will see before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6. Semuliki National park – bird watching and sightseeing

After breakfast, you will Visit Semiliki National Park, a home to over 40% of Uganda’s total bird species. You will enjoy the sight of the snowcapped mountain Rwenzori summit, a variety of plantations and so on; arriving and checking in at the gate in the morning hours, where birds will be your friends for some 2 hours.

Some of those you will seek to find in the pool of over 450 bird species include; the hammerkop, cranes, Turacos, eagles, the geenefowls, quails, and many more. Have a lunch break after birding, and then to the Sempaya hot spring, for photos, and watch the magnificent hot springs with water boiling at about 100”C. Try out boiling an egg, before having a sunset drive back to your lodge at fort port for dinner and overnight.

Day 7. Fort portal City tour and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park

After having a relaxed breakfast meal at the lodge, you will explore fort portal city and some of its crater lakes and plantations around fort portal city, before driving to Queen Elizabeth National park- the Medley of wonder in the pearl of Africa.

Check in at the park and your lodge for lunch, followed by a relaxed evening, reserved for a rewarding guided nature walk and sightseeing. Throughout the Journey; you get to see a variety of plantations, mountain backdrops, and homesteads among others. Dinner and overnight at sunset.

Day 8. Game drive and boat cruise

At Daybreak, you will wake up to a sunrise game drive in the park, to try out of luck or encounter the cats like lions, leopards, and hyenas as they return from their night duties. Giraffes, buffalos, elephants, warthogs, waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, zebras, and Jackson hartebeest all get out of their kraals to find fresh pasture; the birds, primates and unique plant species blossoming in the morning.

Enjoy breathtaking landscapes throughout the game drive, and then to the time of enjoying a bush breakfast in the wild. Thereafter, return for lunch followed by a rewarding 2-3 hour boat cruise at Kazinga channel, with great views of Hippos, crocodiles, aquatic birds, and some more mammals at the shorelines quenching their thirst. End this day with a delicious dinner meal and a peaceful nap.

Day 9. Game drive and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

Start this day with a lip-smacking breakfast meal and then checkout for a safe transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National park- home to half of the total population of the endangered mountain Gorilla species in the world.

You will have a 3-4 hour game drive in the Ishasha sector to search for the rare tree-climbing lions. Lunch follows and then an epic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – arriving late in the evening for check-in, dinner and overnight.

Day 10. Gorilla trekking and Batwa pygmies encounter

After a hefty breakfast meal very early in the morning, you will depart the lodge to your sector headquarters for document verification and briefing by park rangers. They do explain all gorilla trekking rules and regulations and as well allocating members to different gorilla families.

The search is guided by an expert park ranger who will help you trace for these interesting apes, from where they were seen the previous day through the lush jungle; inhabited by lush flora, forest mammals, primates and birds among others.

After finding these apes, you will be given an additional hour for photography, asking questions, watching the gentle silver backs pose with the family, the youngsters summersault and the mothers breastfeed. After gorilla trekking; have a lunch break, followed by a thrilling entertainment with the Batwa pygmies; former hunters and gatherers in the Bwindi Jungle. At sunset return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11. Lake Bunyonyi relaxation

At daybreak, you will brighten your day with a hefty breakfast meal at the lodge and then check out of the lodge for a 2-3 hour scenic drive to Lake Bunyonyi; one of the deepest freshwater lakes in the world decorated by over 29 historical islands. You will enjoy the beautiful plantations, terraced hills and the natives all the way to Lake Bunyonyi.

You will arrive at the lodge for early lunch, followed by an evening canoe ride to different islands surrounding the lake. The guide will show and explain to you the different islands per name and their uniqueness. You will take photos, and sail on the waters for about 2 hours, before returning to the lodge for an entertaining evening, dinner and a nap.

Day 12. Departure

Start your day at sunrise with a lip-smacking breakfast meal at the Lodge and then checkout for an 8-9 hour drive to Entebbe international airport for your flight.

En route, you will have a stopover for lunch and photography at the equator. The Equator only crosses thirteen countries in the world.
